Your skiing holiday in La Rosiere

La Rosiere weather forecast, La Rosiere snow report:

La Rosiere, France is located in the heart of the French Alps in the Upper Tarantaise and Savoie skiing area. Located on the French/ Italian border, La Rosiere forms part of the L’Espace San Bernardo skiing ski area.

For next ski season many of the larger ski chalet operators have cut the number of catered ski chalets on offer in la Rosiere and across the Alps. This is likely to lead to a shortage of catered ski holidays available particularly on peak dates. With the current economic climate make sure that you book your ski holiday with a fully bonded ski holiday company - do not simply rely on using your credit card.

La Rosiere's geographical location gives it the advantage of catching weather systems from Italy and France. Often the area is provided with above average snowfalls in the Tarentaise region with snow throughout the resort at the end of April. La Rosiere and Les Eucherts form a pretty, south facing resort that catches plenty of sunshine: great for a relaxing ski holiday. Designed in the early 1980s, La Rosiere is sympathetic to its environment using local building materials such as stone, wood and slate for its chalets and hotels as opposed to some of the concrete block architecture that was popular in earlier ski resorts.

La Rosiere labels itself as ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ (Family and Mountain) because of its numerous child friendly facilities and activities that make it a great destination for a family ski holiday or for a mixed ability group holiday.

Skiing in La Rosiere
There are 150kms (93 miles) of pisted ski runs in La Rosiere that range from 1200m to 2650m in altitude offering an abundance of treeline skiing on greens, blues, reds and a few black runs to keep the majority of skiers entertained. The longest run is 11kms! It has been commented that it’s not the best of areas for snowboarders as some links can be long and flat however the 3 snowparks and plenty of off-piste action should be enough to keep advanced skiers entertained. However, if that's not enough to whet your skiing appetite, then maybe the 2 slalom stadiums, ski jump, and snowkite ski school area are worth a try.

There are 37 ski lifts and 306 snow cannons in operation in La Rosiere to assist your journey around the ski resort. For those who prefer things a little more extreme, La Rosiere’s link with La Thuile in Italy means that the resort is able to offer Heli-skiing, something that is banned in France.
